The AIA, formed in 1991, is an alliance of trade associations representing companies operating in many sectors of the chemical industry supply chain, from the manufacture of specialty chemicals, chemicals distribution to chemicals-using sectors such as plastics, coatings and cosmetics.
Between them, the trade associations represent 1,200 member companies, the majority of which are SMEs, with an annual turnover of £28 billion, employing over 75,000 people.
The AIA provides a forum for the chemicals sector within UK industry to discuss issues affecting the members of all its associations to formulate, where appropriate, common positions and to represent the industry in discussions with Government and the regulators.
